Colonna Mediterranea

Colonna Mediterranea, a sculpture close to Malta's international airport.  The phallus totem of modern art which has stood, proud, since 2006 not far from the airport and at the gateway to the town of Luqa.  The sculpture, which is called Colonna Mediterranea (Mediterranean Column) is the work of the local ceramic artist and sculptor Paul Vella Critien and was installed on a roundabout. The artist says the sculpture is a representation of a symbol dating back to ancient Egypt.
