Hoodoo, also known as conjure, is a form of predominantly African-American traditional folk magic that developed from the syncretism of a number of separate cultures and magical traditions. |

Hoodoo and Voodoo are often mistaken for one another. Voodoo is a religion, whereas Hoodoo is a group of magical practices. Like Voodoo, Hoodoo shows obvious and evident links to the practices and beliefs of African folk ritual culture, having origins in West and Central Africa. Hoodoo is an Afro-derived mystical system of personal and psychological empowerment, via the specialized use of roots, herbs & minerals in a beneficent or maleficent manner to obtain a desired result, e.g., protection, healing, wealth, justice, victory over enemies, etc.,. Its extensive body of esoteric knowledge, ethos, native customs, and universal folk beliefs, are traditionally passed down [usually in families] from generation to generation. In West Africa, the Azzizas & Legba are the guardian spirits who first taught this art and its accompanying laws to the first family of Africans. The use of "Gbo" (talismans, amulets), for both offensive and protective "magic" was widespread and taken as a rite of survival in Dahomean culture. It was Legba who taught this art to the first consecrated body of priest/ess in African mystical and religious practice. Extensive knowledge of herbs, minerals, roots, and their specialized use in healing, initiations, ritual ceremony, "folk-magic" and medicine, is integral to our professional development and competency as priests. |

Phallic totems are essential in many paths of Witchcraft. They represent the fertilizing power of the God, and its regenerative power. Male totems also speak about achieving goals by direct action, and about nurturing ourselves and our community with the use of hard work and commitment. The God provides the elements that will help the Goddess feed us through food, protect us through shelter and keep us from our enemies. The serpent and the skull are both classic symbols of all African-originated cults. The snake is the image of God in Voodoo, coming down to earth through the rainbow to speak to her sons and give advice and protection. The skull represents our mortality, our ancestors and our divine origin, which we reconcile with our living beings through spirituality. |

Hoodoo is also used by different black magic and witchcraft cults. Phallus Candles are novelty candles in the form of an erect penis, with or without scrotum. Phallus Candles come in a wide variety of colors, though generally only the colors red, pink, white, blue, and black are used. In the practice of Hoodoo candle work, Phallus Candles are burned in love spells to attract a male lover, known or unknown, spells for sex, in spells designed to "tie a man's nature" and make a man faithful to a specific woman, and in black magic spells to curse a man's reproductive system, to make a man impotent, and to destroy his ability to have and enjoy sex. Candles have always been used in spiritual matters, either with a votive purpose, in rituals or when representing the devotion and prayer. The candle symbolizes the four elements and their implementation plan to the transcendent immanent. Phallus candles are generally used to inhibit the sexual act. Nothing is more determined than a candle to awaken a man's desire or to give him strength during a tiring or boring period. |

The Penis candles are pretty obvious in their intent. They are great for binding a lover to you or increasing your own sexual stamina and pleasure. |
